Who we work with

We work with business of all sizes ranging from international multi-site businesses through to owners of micro businesses. They all have one thing in common, they want training that achieves results.

What we do

We specialise in helping Line Managers to improve the performance capability of their business. We help line managers realise and exert their huge influence and take ownership of performance management of their teams. We train managers of all levels from newly promoted line managers promoted based on their technical expertise through to Senior Leadership teams and business owners.

How we do we do it

Whether we are 1x1 coaching or group training, transfer of learning is at the heart of everything we do. We work with you to support every participant to transfer what they have learnt during their training to be the best they can be.

We also deliver the usual range of Interpersonal skills development in a highly practical manner that encourages transfer of learning.

ROB JOHNSON MSc, MCIPD

I have over 20 years’ learning and development experience specialising in leadership and management development. I have worked in several Public Sector businesses in Head of Learning and Development roles before joining Instep in 2002 as a Consultant at the Award winning Vimto Academy. I was MD of Instep for over 3 years until I left the business in April 2014 to set up my own Leadership Consultancy. As a small business owner I understand the pressures of business ownership but thrive on the freedom and flexibility business ownership presents.

My consultancy work sees me utilise my practical leadership experience to support leaders to achieve their potential. Working with managers of all levels I regularly receive positive feedback on my informal, practical delivery style, and my willingness to respectfully challenge thinking.

On a one-to-one basis I can provide Executive Coaching to Senior Leaders in a wide range of businesses. My main area of expertise lies in Performance Management. I have a real passion for working in partnership with clients to achieve results at every opportunity and support participants to transfer their learning back into the workplace.

When working with clients my aim is to challenge thinking and offer alternative views or ideas that help a client to achieve results from any training and development delivered.

Whilst I lead the Triangle delivery to clients I also provide a number of specialists Consultants to assist me when their various skill sets can support and offer real value to projects.

We develop and use a variety of tools to help clients support learners back in the workplace to transfer their learning once the training input has finished, helping to prove return on investment.

We start any project at the end. We will agree with you what good looks like and design a solution that will help learners to get there. We will monitor progress with you throughout the project making any improvements we need as we go along.

Case Study - Beaufort Financial Services

The Business

Beaufort Financial Services was established in 2005 and manages money for clients through successful risk rated portfolios, which are run in conjunction with Beaufort Investment Management.

The Challenge

As the team’s Financial Advisers meet clients daily there was a temptation to pre- judge client needs rather than listen to their specific requirements and then offer a tailored solution. This was limiting sales opportunities.

The Solution

We designed a bespoke practical training event which focussed on practising and developing advanced communication skills, getting the team to reflect on their existing approaches and give them practical skills in high quality questioning and Level 5 listening skills.

The Results

Case Study – Phoenix ME

The Business

Based in Central London Phoenix ME specialise in the complete installation of Mechanical & Electrical services to all work sectors including quality office developments, commercial and public sector buildings, Project values ranges from £100k to £50 million.

The Challenge

Like many in the construction industry the weekly Toolbox Talk delivered on a specific Health and Safety issue was considered to be a bit of a chore. This resulted in demotivated speakers and bored audiences and a general lack of impact with key messages getting lost.

The Solution

We designed a practical programme that trained all presenters to realise and use a positive mindset when presenting their toolbox talk, identify and deliver clear messages that are tailored to the audience and enthuse and entertain the audience

The Results

‘The training has really made our presenters think differently. Our weekly Toolbox Talks are now delivered with energy and enthusiasm.
